Sponsored Hair Makeover By Poise Hair Studio

I understand that the K-wave is really strong and many people like anything and everything K-pop or remotely related to K-pop or Korean. That may explain why there are many Korean hair salons which have suddenly appeared all over Singapore. But me being me, I still miss the Japanese soap operas that I used to watch on TV and I still love Japanese hair trends and hairstyles which I feel are much more suitable for me. So imagine my excitement when I learnt that my third hair makeover of the year would be done by an established hairstylist with vast experience with Japanese hair trends and styles!

My stylist from Poise Hair Studio, Catherine, was with Shunji Matsuo for many years and has great experience with Japanese hairstyles and hair colouring techniques! So I'm definitely in more than good hands! She's really nice to talk to and she understands what kind of look that I want! And she's so experienced in hair colouring that she could pick out hair colours that would look good on me! The hair colours that she has chosen for me actually turned out better than the one that I picked. Honestly, being a hair model and beauty blogger, I have had my fair share of less than pleasant experiences with stylists who just didn't know how to handle my atypical fine Asian hair and extremely strong natural curls. But with Catherine, you can just leave your hair to her and rest assured that it will turn out great! In my opinion, she's one of the best hair stylists in Singapore who has handled my hair.

I was having a bad hair day as I stepped into Poise Hair Studio, which is conveniently located at Dhoby Ghaut (20 Handy Road).

See how frizzy and messy my hair was before the hair makeover? >.<

After analyzing my current hair situation, Catherine offered suggestions on what could be done and how she could improve my hair. She first trimmed away the frizzy bits and added layers to my hair to achieve the desired 3D shape before the application of Cosme Cream treatment over my fringe and the top frizzy part of my hair to add gloss and shine. I learnt from Catherine that Cosme Cream has been in the market for 5 years now and this is actually the first time that I have tried it. My fringe is so smooth and shiny now after being processed with Cosme Cream and I can even see the light reflection on my fringe! Awesome! For the uninitiated, Cosme Cream is being applied in a similar manner as the usual soft rebonding cream but certain hair types can end up looking rather straight and stiff after undergoing rebonding. But with Cosme Cream, the hair's natural wave and curl is being retained but the hair looks much more glossy and shiny! And that's exactly the effect that I want! Cost of Cosme Cream treatment is $258 at Poise Hair Studio.

Unedited, no filter photo after Catherine did Cosme Cream treatment over my fringe and the top frizzy part of my hair. Notice the light reflection on my fringe? =)

Catherine is very experienced with hair colour and I'm amazed with the graduation and depth of colours created on my hair! Really love the hair colours that she has chosen for me! She first bleached the bottom layers of my hair tresses before application of pink and rose and violet Balayage highlights from Elumen. My fringe is then coloured a deep purple shade and the surrounding base (which is basically the rest of my hair) a lighter wine colour: both colours are from L'oreal Professionnel. Catherine used Balayage highlight technique to create my bespoke hair colour. Yeah, you didn't read wrongly...it's bespoke hair colour! The gradual colour gradients from my hair roots to tips look really natural. This is the first time that I have tried pink colour in my hair and I absolutely love the effects! Bespoke hair colour inclusive of bleach and highlight at Poise Hair Studio is about $400.

Notice how natural and gradual the colour gradients from my hair roots to tips look? This bespoke hair colour effect was created with Balayage highlight technique!

It's worth noting that my hair is still soft and smooth even after bleaching!

Here's a no filter, unedited photo of my newly coloured hair! Notice the light reflection on my fringe?

Honestly, this is my third hair makeover of the year and the most gorgeous one thus far! Really love the transformational results! I'm in love with my new hairstyle and hair colour! And my hair is so smooth and shiny now! Thanks Catherine for her attention to details and for spending close to 7 hours on my hair! Poise Hair Studio is one of the forward-looking hair salons in Singapore with stylists who constantly stay updated with the latest hair trends. Thanks so much for creating this Vlook hairstyle to slim down my round face. Korean Superstar and trend-setter, Yoon Eun Hye, the L’Oreal Professionnel brand spokesperson was here to launch the hottest and most sought-after Vlook at Singapore Fashion Week, which I had the privilege of attending.

What I use to take care of my coloured hair: Kerastase and L'Oreal Professionnel products for coloured hair. Bought this mini Kerastase travel size kit that comes with a chic pouch which makes bringing out these products a breeze. Poise Hair Studio carries the full range of Kerastase products. Was telling Catherine that once one person upgrades to salon hair care products, it's hard to go back to mass market products again. But life is short, do pamper yourself ya =)

Poise Hair Studio has a range of other hair services which also include Keratase treatment as well as scalp treatment, etc. They are up to date with the latest hair trends and hairstyles for both men and women as well as for both long and short hair. They also provide wedding hairstyling services too so brides-to-be can come by for a consultation.

The shampooing section of Poise Hair Studio is really cozy. The light massage that Catherine did on my scalp during the shampooing, was so soothing and relaxing that I could almost doze off.

Well, now I love to take selfies more often after my hair makeover by Poise Hair Studio. Btw, someone asked if I have any hair perm done. Nope, I'm born with natural curls so what you see in this photo is just the results of towel-dried hair and the application of some Kerastase leave-in conditioner and hair serum from the same Chroma Riche range.

It has been a fortnight since the hair makeover and my hair colour still looks good.

My bespoke hair colour still looks good after almost a month

I love the hair services at Poise Hair Studio. If you are looking for a top hair salon in Singapore to pamper yourself and your tresses, do consider Poise Hair Studio and I would personally recommend that you seek the services of Catherine! She's really good! Thanks Poise Hair Studio for taking good care of my hair and for this awesome hair makeover!

Nivea x G-Star Raw Ultimate Fashion Statement Event

Thanks Nivea for the invites to Nivea x G-Star Raw Ultimate Fashion Statement media event. Had a lovely afternoon learning about the 5 different body shapes (full hourglass, pear, apple, rectangle and inverted triangle). Keith went through the key characteristics of each of these 5 body types and shared styling tips on how to dress for each of these body types. Clarence gave us pointers on how to apply the Nivea body serum more effectively. It was interesting to learn that there's a preferred direction for the application of body serums and lotions. It was a fun-filled afternoon during which I learnt more about my skin undertone shade and went through a colour profiling/matching session to determine which colours complement me better. And it was also the first time that I had a detailed aura report done. It's always interesting to discover more things about myself. There was also exclusive 20% off storewide discount on G-Star Raw apparels for workshop participants.

The new range of Nivea body serum contains Coenzyme Q10 which is a potent antioxidant that energizes skin by stimulating collagen and elastin production. It also contains the well known whitening ingredient, Vitamin C, which repairs signs of dry and dull skin and inhibits further skin damage. It has SPF33 UVA, UVB protection against the sun's damaging rays. I have oily skin so I'm happy to try out the new Nivea body serum as most body creams are too rich for my oily skin. Thumbs up for the non sticky finish of this product. An advantage of Nivea body serum is the better efficacy and faster absorption as compared to the usual body creams and lotions. Thanks Nivea for this fun and informative workshop =)

Each of us was given this cute handbook containing informative skincare and styling tips and where we could take down notes as well as paste our Aura photo.

Hublot The Big Bang Party: Fight of the Jubilee

Thank you The Hour Glass for this super happening and fun Hublot Big Bang Party at the world's biggest popup store at Ngee Ann City. Towering at 7 m high and occupying a massive area of 1050 square metres, the world's biggest Hublot popup store is an architectural feat to behold! Guests were treated to a live Lucha Libre wrestling match with fire-eating performances. And there was a Mambo Jumbo segment with all the synchronized dancing after that. Bumped into a few friends at the party and had a fun evening =)

The live Lucha Libre wrestling match! Well, this was the first time that I actually watched a wrestling match live! And I was just standing next to the ring.

The fire-eater performing her stunt at the party

When I met these lovely ladies before their performance, me being me actually asked them if they were going to do wrestling too. And they were like: "No, we are girls. We don't wrestle." before introducing each of their performance items.

Fun selfie or wefie with the performer and host

With a masked Lucha Libre Mexican wrestler after the first round of the wrestling match. Never mind the sweat.

With one of the Lucha Libre wrestlers: He was flexing his muscles n me being me, was holding onto my champagne glass. He was baring his teeth n me being me, was flashing a smile. lol ;p

With Dr. Mambo King: Me being me, was like: "I know your real name is not Woof" n he immediately took out his credit card with Woof embossed on it. Honestly, I tried various names on my cards for fun but names such as "Princess" wasn't approved for obvious reasons. N no, I don't have a princess disease. lol

What I wore to Hublot Big Bang Party: Michael Kors dress, Red Valentino bag, Sam Edelman shoes

First Year Anniversary Party of Bistro 1855 Suntec City

Thanks Vivien for the kind invitation to Bistro 1855's first year anniversary party =) Bistro 1855 is tucked away at Tower 4 of Suntec City (it's not too far from the former Carrefour premises at Suntec). For those who take the centre circle line, someone at our table mentioned that it's just steps away from Promenade Station. It has been quite some time since I last stepped into Suntec City so I'm quite surprised to see that most of the major renovations have been done and that many new shops have opened.

Group Ceo, Mr. Patrick Sng, was giving his welcome speech to the guests when I arrived. We were served canapes and drinks while enjoying the live music performance from their resident band "Two Shades". There was sales promotion for selected wines, with up to 30% discount on top of the already affordable price tags. Thanks for the opportunity to try out some of Bistro 1855's signature dishes as well as wines. Do scroll down for my humble thoughts on some of the dishes served.

Congratulations to Mr. Patrick Sng and team on your first anniversary! Check out the cute t-shirts that some staff were wearing: "Don't say we bojio" which translates loosely to mean that "don't say that we didn't extend an invite" ;p

Bustling scene at the first anniversary party of Bistro 1855 at Suntec City

Yummy salmon toasties and Boston lobster rolls served. And that's an enthusiastic blogger trying to capture photos of the food ahead of everyone else...lol

The light and refreshing Salmon Toasties with swirls of Loch Duart Smoked Salmon served over crusty garlicky toast is one of my favorite dishes of the night; I'm a simple person and salmon always works for me.

The refreshing serving from the ocean, "Boston Lobster Roll": Tangy citrus marinated Boston Lobster Laced tucked nicely atop freshly toasted soft bun.

I thought that this Asian-fusion dish "Squid Ink Otah with Boston Lobster" is rather interesting. It's essentially home-made squid ink otah with chunks of lobster meat. Lobster dishes are gaining in popularity at the boutique events that I attend. But this is the first time that I have tried otah with such an unusual twist.

The Serrano Pork Cheek is simply yummy! Love how the slowly braised and tender pork cheek is served with creamy mash and specially mixed raspberry chili jam. This masterfully executed dish is definitely the culinary pride of Bistro 1855. You have to try this awesome dish!

Fresh Turkish Figs: These luscious Turkish Figs which are dressed with ricotta cheese and drizzles of Manuka honey are really very fresh and nice! This decadent dessert is for sure, a commitment piece after your meal.

Eclairs are always a welcome for the sweet-toothed.

Free flow of different wines and beer served for the party. I tried the different wines and personally prefer the one in the magnum bottle (apologies that I didn't note down the name of that particular red wine). Bumped into a lady who was waiting at this section and I'm happy to serve her drinks cos I can understand how busy the f&b situation can get and I always used to double up to serve guests at those events that I used to organize.

Group Ceo, Mr. Patrick Sng picking out winners during the lucky draw segment and he actually drew out his own card from the bowl. lol. Congratulations to the lucky winners who went home with bottles of wine and dining vouchers.

A toast at our table: Please pardon the messy table situation

Fun at the photo booth by Pixcaso Studio: Notice how I can still smile after getting hammered on the head? V. professional ya? lol. Thanks Bistro 1855 for the fun evening and lovely door gift.

Selfie time for narcissistic me ;p

And of course, me being me, wouldn't miss the opportunity to take a selfie with the pretty gold and silver balloons =D

And I took a wefie with Mr. Patrick Sng too =)

Congratulations once again and thanks Bistro 1855 for the lovely evening.
